Mayor involvement - countymounty - 02-07-2010
Its about time the school district (high school) gets some attention. The high school is a direct relation to the success of the city. I applaude the mayor and city council for saying enough is enough. Build a career / technical campus for the four or five hundred students who need an alternative setting and the school will start to turn the corner with the city.

Dear countymounty, Before you commit 10's of millions of our tax dollars on yet another cart-before-the-horse boondoggle, don't you think we need to address the shortcomings of the current content of K-8 curriculum, first? Being the cynic that I am, I question your motives. Waukegan citizens need a voice that reinforces their inner desire to speak up, but are afraid to do so. We have suffered for too long with mis-guided pillars of our community with, perhaps, personal agendas. Harold Beadling

What??? I think you hear the inner voices. Im mearly making a suggestion to help our towns school. And if the high school isnt figured out the community will really be in the toilet. Your hidden agenda is to use your name and dazzle the board with your wisdom .....well its not working, you are not going to win any offices. Good luck with your agenda...

Dear countymounty, Once again, A 73% failure rate on the state high school exam clearly indicates a major shortcoming in K-8 learning. Are you proposing a high school for the express purpose of teaching high school students what they should have learned in elementary and middle school? That's a novel concept. What Waukegan really needs, is to eliminate most of the multicultural distractions from our schools and concentrate all efforts at teaching our children reading, writing, arithmetic, and how to be good Americans.
