Obama !!!!! - wths74 - 01-20-2009 Am I the only one who is getting just a tiny bit tired of the whole thing? My god, you would think the 2nd coming of Jesus was today. Good thing Obama isn't coming in with too much expectation either huh? Well, our free market democracy had a good run while it lasted. Well, he won, good for him, he ran a better campaign and he won. Can we stop this nonsense now and get to work on the issues please? Re: Obama !!!!! - NorthsideKaren - 01-20-2009 I just hope his presidency can somewhat live up to the hype. I'll give it this- it is historic, especially the media wetting themselves over all of it! Perhaps, however, more young black men will aspire to be more than rappers, NBA stars, or gang-bangers. Re: Obama !!!!! - goodintentions - 01-20-2009 I was a strong supporter of McCain & Palin. But ya know what? I just listened to Obama's speech - and it wasn't 1/2 bad. If he means what he says - he has to be good for our nation. I'm excited to see what he can really make happen in the next four years! Whatever my previous thoughts & convictions were, Obama is in fact now our President. By virtue of that he is worthy of our respect and our prayers. God Bless America & God please direct President Obama as he reflects & seeks direction on helping this nation. Re: Obama !!!!! - NorthsideKaren - 01-20-2009 Very true, good intentions. And, well stated. I am just sick of all the media hype. Re: Obama !!!!! - Blackdiamond - 01-20-2009 Media hype? People are still talking about Bill Clinton. Please give him atleast 48hrs to clean up 8 years of mess. I didn't vote for him because of the color of his skin, however, if you were me you'd be proud also. My heart just bleeds for people who judge by the color of skin, religion, etc. Tell the News Media not to say another word about the Election. The NEWS MEDIA interviewed an elderly white woman who was from the South and she said "Thank God, now maybe we can move on." I hope everyone who was against PRESIDENT OBAMA would do just that. I'll have no more to say about this. People all over the world were rejoicing. Re: Obama !!!!! - goodintentions - 01-20-2009 Blackdiamond - I hear you loud & clear. I totally understand the emotion behind President Obama's election. I think its a huge event - putting Obama in the White House. I think it speaks volumes to all people of color. I get that. I understand the whole proud moment watching him take the Oath. My eyes swelled with tears when I heard the Tuskegee Airmen being interviewed on TV this morning by Robin Roberts. I know what a proud, unthinkable day this was for them to be witnessing. I think its awesome. I really do. But, we must keep it all in perspective. Barrack Obama is equally a white man. Re: Obama !!!!! - wths74 - 01-20-2009 I wonder how long the honeymoon will last. We have many issues that need to be addressed. It did get off to a discouraging start however, on the Sunday morning news shows David Axelrod was saying things like "our problems are at a critical stage, we have to get away from debate and dissent and just do what is right". Excuse me? Do away with debate and dissent? I learned in history class that congress debates issues and then they hash it out. We are not going to bother with that now? Just go along with what Obama wants to do and if you don't agree they want you to keep your mouth shut? I know it sounds like sour grapes, but I do worry that this guy will turn this into a socialist nation. I really think free enterprise is going to take a hit from the Obama administration. I am afraid his distribution of wealth schemes could do more damage than good. He is my president too, he is not just the president of the minorities and the liberals. He is the president of all of us. He must take in all viewpoints. He must not just listen to Pelosi and Kennedy and Durbin, he must also list to the GOP points also. |
