Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - WT Reader - 08-02-2010 Does anyone know if the City of Waukegan is spraying neighborhoods with mosquito spray as in previous summers? I have not heard the spray truck late at night (has a very distinctive sound with yellow lights flashing). Also, the mosquitoes are particularly fierce all day and even worse at night, so much so that it is impossible to sit out in the yard for any time at all in the evening (even with mosquito sprays, candles, eletric zappers, etc). :?: :?: :?: -- WT Reader Re: Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - kellyann1293 - 08-03-2010 Yes, they are. But we've had quite a bit of rain lately, and lots of standing water for mosquitoes to breed in. Re: Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - Danno - 08-03-2010 Don't believe her WT. Kellyann is a mad scientist who has been working on a secret mosquito breeding program in her spare time. She's developing a strain that will only suck the blood from liberals. It works on the principle of the bleeding heart. Re: Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - ClassicalLib17 - 08-03-2010 Dear All Y'All, I grew up in the 60's and we dealt with the problem on an individual basis. Shame on you kelly, for advocating a government response to this non-issue. Mosquitoes are our most effective evening crime deterrent. Spray yourselves. More likely, I expect some enterprising Progressive will make this a campaign issue next year for all you helpless individuals to rally around, how pitiful. It's no wonder our city and state is on the verge of bankruptcy. I am not a strict environmentalist, by any measure, however, do you suppose that the mosquito spraying may kill more than mosquitoes? Again, how pitiful your pleas. Is your political philosophy based on the expectation that the masses take, also, the medicine necessary for the very few? Ever flush any pills down the toilet, rather than throwing them in the garbage? What substances are present in the makeup of your public drinking water? If you have not attained a high school degree, as I have, I suggest you enroll in a GED course, and join the real world. It's not hard. But, you have to spend alot of time reading the facts. Get with it. Re: Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - kellyann1293 - 08-03-2010 . Re: Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - ClassicalLib17 - 08-03-2010 . I also called the City of Waukean's Public Works Dept, and they gave me a phone number of the vendor who does the spraying for the city. The vendor said the rain is creating lots of mosquito breeding, and it is a real challenge this summer to abate a growing mosquito population. At least our lawns our green this August But that also means no vacations from mowin' 'm in these "dog days of August" ! -- WT Reader Re: Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - Danno - 08-04-2010 Ok, can you all stop talking about mosquitos... you're makin me itch in places that I can't scratch. Get with it. CL, your knee-jerk response to Kelly was offensive. You should apologize to Kelly. Why don't you go to Florida and announce how wrong spraying for mossies is, while they are experiencing outbreaks of Dengue Fever (AKA Breakbone Fever). Remember Yellow Fever Dengue, and Malaria were endemic in the gulf region until it was discoved that mosquitos were the vector spreading the diseases. Good public health campaigns to kill mosquitos and their larvae resulted in countless lives saved and made it possible for economic growth of the region. Re: Is Waukegan spraying for mosquitoes this summer? - kellyann1293 - 08-04-2010 I'm a big girl, I can take it. |
