Immigration The recently passed 287g initiative has received significant attention. Are you for this endeavor and how will it play a part in your administration? This question (from the crew site) may allow them to answer in general terms and/or sidestep the issue. From what I understand 287g funding for local police is not there. Therefore, other communities (states, counties and cities) are using laws/ordinances that have been successful. The candidates could be asked specifically as mayor what they would do to combat illegal immigration and it's effects in Waukegan. Pin them down -the issue is too big in Waukegan to be ignored. Use E-Verify? Cut services? Many more... I suggest crew watches Sheriff Curran's press conference for more ideas and background. Hear what Lake County Board President Suzie S's promises in this area. http://freedomfolks.com/blog/?p=4059 If you need to speak to any experts in this area I can supply some contacts. So it's not open to the public then? Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - kirsty - 10-07-2008 It is open to the public, who are Crew users. Crew is no different than any other socio-political organization; I cannot, for example, just attend a social/academic/ business or other organization's meeting on the basis that I am a member of the 'public.' I have to be affiliated with that particular organization. Of course, as citizens of Waukegan we are all free to interview the candidates - just make contact through their office/web site and speak to the candidates directly, you don't need Crew to do that. The purpose of Crew is to interview all of the candidates as a group, and then make a decision en masse. Please feel free to join us! If it is not your cup of tea, then don't join us - the choice is truly yours Jazmin! JazminH Wrote:kirsty Wrote:JazminH Wrote:JazminH Wrote:So where and when is this interview? Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - Danno - 10-07-2008 kirsty Wrote:Hi Danno,Kirsty, yes, people here are very intelligent. some of them even have their BS detectors turned up on "high". For clarity sake, there are two entirely different issues being discussed here. One is the requirement for name and number. The other is whether a requirement for name and number is the same as no requirement? I have no problem with the requirement for name and number. I am not going to participate in the CREW forum for the reason I stated earlier in this thread and not because of the name number thing. Now, I hope you can understand why my BS detector went off when I hear sailor72 equate a forum that reqires name and number with a forum that does not by saying it's ONLY a matter of choice: "that the doors open the same way, the choice to open them is what's different". Based on statements like that, if sailor72 were part of another regime I certainly would have to assume he/she is their acting "Minister of Propaganda". ![]() Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - kirsty - 10-07-2008 Hi Danno, Intelligence, and having the ability to detect misleading statements, are not necessarily synonymous. Nevertheless, your reasons for not joining Crew are personal and I respect that. I can assure you, (well, you know this from when me met) that I am very British, and British-isms in my writing give me away. I hope that you don't think I am 'sailor 72.' I tried being someone else once, on the Town site - 'Adam Smith'. It 's hard enough being me, let alone trying to be someone else and keep up an alias. ![]() ![]() Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - Danno - 10-07-2008 kirsty Wrote:Hi Danno,Kirsty, of course I do not think you are sailor72 nor do I hold it against you to advertise the CREW forum. Youv'e done a commendable job. Ah, but your deductive reasoning abilities (which are connected to general intelligence) should have given you the answer to the sailor 72 question, for it was contained in the last sentence of my post, specifically my use of "he/she" as an indication that I was unaware of even the gender of sailor72. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - kirsty - 10-07-2008 Danno, Actually the phrase I used was 'I hope that you don't think," as opposed to, "I know that you think". Since biologically I fall in the category of a 'he' or a 'she', it is feasible for you to believe that I am the aforementioned 'sailor 72'. Nevertheless, in response to your comments about my general intelligence, I admit that I am certainly not in the league of some of my old professors at the University of Chicago, whose level of intellect I can only dream of. However, I shall be contacting the University of Chicago and Northwestern poste haste to ask for a tuition & scholarship refund, since perhaps the degrees that they awarded me, by your standards, are a load of hokey. ![]() I wish you all the best with the forum. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - Danno - 10-08-2008 Score one for Dunning and Kruger. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - s.wonder - 10-09-2008 Forgive me if I'm wrong but didn't Kolber fully support the good old boys just a short while back? Oh, wait a minute, I think I recall someone telling me that Kolber "goes anyway the wind blows". No, sorry, I think I'm mixing two stories together, that part about him going "anyway the wind blows" pertains to a story about something that happend between Kolber and a channel seven weatherman. |
