So your voting for Wakefield then I assume Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - JazminH - 10-06-2008 JeffK Wrote:Kirsty does more for our community than the majority of "citizens" in Waukegan. She understands the basic tenets of our country including citizen involvement in our political structures and changing the community for the common good. I, for one, would very much welcome Kirsty as a citizen to our country and its democratic traditions. Also, Kirsty and her husband are professional, well-informed, kind folks--the kind of demographic that we need more of in Waukegan. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - kirsty - 10-06-2008 s.wonder Wrote:Crew wants to educate us? I think the crew might just be the ones who need an education. Sam Cuntingham - give me a break - I've been watching him since before he was sworn in as alderman so I know him well. There is nothing anyone, including Sam hisself, could tell me about him that would change my opinion of him. You can't negate years and years of the incompetent visionless low expectations that are Sam. Same thing goes for Hyde. There is no way I would ever vote for either of them for mayor..... even if the opposition was a turd. The idea behind CREW is that citizens educate themselves. Citizens make an informed decision on their choice of candidate when they have had a chance to listen to ALL of the candidates. It really serves no purpose to offensively deride individual candidates; as well as being highly discourteous, it educates absolutely no-one. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - JazminH - 10-06-2008 So where and when is this interview? Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - kellyann1293 - 10-06-2008 kirsty Wrote:Kelly Ann, your views are very valid. This site and the CREW site serve very different purposes. Our sole purpose is to find the right leadership for Waukegan, and we are very clear on that. Of course, what goes on in Zion, North Chicago and so on is important to the people of Waukegan. And this site, Wauktalk, admirably serves as a forum for discussion on such topics, as well as many others. The reason for limiting discussion on the CREW site is not to stifle free speech, rather, to focus discussion in a productive way because we are on a time crunch. Moreover, just as users have to contact the administrator on this site to suggest a new topic, the same is true on CREW, and the old Town site. In that respect the three sites are no different. I just looked at the CREW site again. When trying to decide whether to sign up, the following text convinced me not to: "As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither âwaukegancrew.orgâ nor phpBB shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised. In the electronic era that we live in, the information required to join CREW is minimal, and in fact is no less than the information required to join the Town site. This site, Town, and virtually every other online forum risks being hacked. Nevertheless, even if these forums agreed to be held totally responsible for data hacking, and other matters out of their control, individuals would find other reasons not to prescribe to a particular forum. That's life. An individuals decision to join CREW is personal and I respect that entirely. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - kellyann1293 - 10-06-2008 I never had to give my name or phone number for this site or the TOWN site. I just needed a valid email address. For both, I used my "spam" email address. If the database is hacked, they can send me spam but they don't have my phone number or my real name. Like I said, I wish you guys luck with the site, but it's just not my cup of tea. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - s.wonder - 10-06-2008 kirsty Wrote:s.wonder Wrote:Crew wants to educate us? Kirsty, pardon me for being so bold but you need to read the posts of your co crew member Steve Kolber. Contrary to your more reasonable version, he, in supreme arrogant fashion, has said that: âThe intent is truly to educate the electorate as to the most qualified choice, and do what it takes as an organized and focused group to place that individual into office.â And again, Steve, in full pomousity: âOur sole task is to energize, enlighten and motivate the voters en masse to get behind a single qualified candidate who we feel has the passion, integrity and vision to lead our Cityâ Iâm sorry but I donât need an annoying putz like Steve Kolber to enlighten me let alone motivate me to get behind a candidate of his choosing. Furthermore, there are many reasons people vote for a candidate. Being informed on specific issues is simply not that important to many voters here in Waukegan. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - sailor72 - 10-06-2008 Isn't it interesting that the most popular topic on this entire forum is a thread based on trying to dismantle another forum? Now that's entertainment. Re: Arrogance,Waukegan and the Internet - sailor72 - 10-06-2008 Kellyann, Interesting to note that when you sign up for WaukTalk you are presented with this completely different disclaimer: As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither âWaukegan Talkâ nor phpBB shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromized.
