Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs - ClassicalLib17 - 09-07-2010

I don't know about you, but I plan on buying a lifetime supply of incandescent light bulbs before their ban begins in 2014.

Yeah, I know. Does anyone know where I can get a nice old inefficient refrigerator and some DDT.

I feel sorry for you Danno. You are so dead set on absolute nonsense. Why can't you understand that the world's survival depends on honest people that know how to crunch the numbers to determine what we can afford at the present time with all due respect given to the future? Zeitgeist and Mr. Fresco are the fringe to the extreme. What our community and civilization need is small government with minimal intervention. Your scientists want to dictate that everyone will contribute to what they decide is the future, without regard to what is feasible, or what society really wants, within reason. Common sense must prevail. Start a business that is for the sole purpose of achieving your philosophical goals. What individual would listen to your business plan and decide to invest? What your Zeitgeist movement boils down to is just another socio-political group looking for some power. Total power. I am still curious as to the career that has sustained your supreme existence. Thank you for your reply

You think you know everything yet you know nothing.

While I don't agree the federal govt should force you to buy something, CFL are very safe. The amount of mercury is really small and well within safety limits. That being said in 4 years LED lights will probably be cheap enough to replace CFL tech.

Re: Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs - Frankzilch - 09-08-2010

I know someone who put one of those danged things, those there CFL bulbs, in a lamp and when the light from it hit the flouride in his teeth it instantly turned him into one of them zombies. Yup. The only thing he's talked about for several weeks now is how this here New World Order thing is the best thing since sliced bread.

You know things are bad when even the lightbulbs are out to get you.

Hey Danno, WT, Dutchboy, FLASHLIGHTS ARE NEXT.

Re: Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs - marshmellow - 09-09-2010

CFLs are made not in the US but in China. They give out crappy light and despite what has been said, the mercury toxicity will be a problem...Where are all those used CFLs going to be kept?

When government gets a 'bright' idea and dictates what kind of light bulb we need all in an effort to 'save the planet and prevent global warming', you know that some outfit/campaign contributor (like GE) is going to make out like a bandit.

Welcome, marshmellow.
