Craving that certain something to help lift yourself out of the winter blahs? Why not partake of a cultural event this weekend to lift your spirits and help restore your hope in something good going on in this community?

Bowen Park Opera Company presents, "Shakespeare's Women...the Lives and Loves" this Friday, featuring the lives and loves of several of the Bard's most notable female characters. With music composed by Verdi, Bellini, Hoiby and others, with many of the pieces sung in their original languages, you'll be treated to some of the best professionally trained voices in the Chicago area today. Mixed-media tiles featuring images and quotes from Shakepeare's prodigious masterworks created by actress Jhenai Mootz are on display and available for purchase. It's a delight for the eyes as well as the ears if you can attend one of these performances.

upcoming performance this Sunday, March 7 at 4:00 p.m. to hear some incredible music, featuring pianist Jamie Schaak on George Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue'. Also featured in the concert titled, "American Spirit: Red, White and Blues," you'll hear Copland's 'Outdoor Overture,' and selections from "Rodeo," "Three Shades of Blue" by Grofé, and the "Second Essay for Orchestra" by Barber.
