Having had a relative killed by a drunk driver I'm glad to hear the city is doing this. So they've had over a 100 arrests since this October? Good God. This simple little blurb has three pages of comments. Hot topic for sure. I've heard of a lot of grants our police have been getting. Smile

NEWS-SUN STAFF REPORT

The Waukegan Police Department has registered well over 100 DUI arrests under a state-funded program initiated in October.

Since receiving a $197,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, two full-time officers have made 136 DUI arrests, according to Cmdr. Gabe Guzman.

Of those arrests, 31 were felonies, Guzman said. The officers also apprehended five people with outstanding warrants and issued over 200 tickets while stopping more than 1,250 vehicles.
