My response was so slow in "Posting" that I didn't know it took---now there are too many responses.
For those who don't know, begonia seed is very tiny. So are the resulting seedlings. Here are a few pictures of some new born begonias. Each is about the size of a grain of table salt. The silver object in the pictures is a standard small size paper clip that I put there for size reference.
Spring is coming soon and the life force present in these baby begonias seems to show it.

Oddly enough, Danno- I was listening to a gardening show this am, and they were talking about how now is the time to start your seedlings. I had never tried to
do annuals from seeds, now I might. Begonias are beautiful- however what kind of territory do they need? Full sun, partial, shade etc...?
Hi Karen, The seedlings in the picture are from seed that I saved from a fantastic new variety called Bonfire. This cultivar is based on germplasm collected in 1990 in Bolivia. The country of New Zealand sent out an expedition looking for exceptional species. Before this, garden begonias were base on 4 species collected over 100 years ago and then they were not looking for exceptional garden performance. They did a wonderful job with this one as it is amazing in hanging baskets. I had pictures posted last summer. I'll put them up again later. If you have a 10 or 20 gallon aquarium and a plant light fixture laying around I can show you how to set it up as an excellent germination chamber. You will be able to germinate even difficult subjects.

Here's a website from the producer of Bonfire:
