Lillie Jones (DeLoatch) Courageously departed this life on the 26th day of October 2010. She was born on July 4, 1940 to Ferne Curtis and George DeLoatch Sr. in Harlem, New York. Lillie was raised in Detroit, Michigan, At a young age and during the early stages of the Vietnam War Lillie began her career with the United States Army Women's Corp at Army Airfield Fort Huachuca in Arizona as a Private First Class (PFC). She served her country from 1958 to 1962. Establishing Waukegan, Illinois as her home, "Miss Lillie" as many call her; continued her military career working with the Naval Training Center, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fort Sheridan, and the Naval Hospital Managed Care Division providing administrative assistance and customer service. During her noteworthy career Lillie has received numerous citations for her unparalleled accomplishments. Her career ended with a legacy of teamwork and loyal service; 46 years to our wonderful nation. Lillie was an advocate in local politics that affected the North Chicago and Waukegan community. She was also a member of God's family. She was a member of First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, North Chicago, IL until she shared her life of fellowship with the members of Jesus Name Apostolic Church in Waukegan, Illinois. She volunteered at her church when needed and was a member of the senior citizen team, "Seniors on the Move." Lillie was married to Donald Jones for 22 years; from this union came one son, "Bruce A. Jones." "Ms Lillie" was 70 years old. Preceding her in death were Mother, Ferne (Curtis) Williams; Father, George DeLoatch, Sr; Brother, Bruce DeLoatch; and Aunt, Marion Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Bruce A. (Lucrecia) Jones, Granddaughter; Genesis Marie Jones of Milwaukee, WI; Sisters, Georgia Ann Mizlock of Waukegan,IL, Lorraine "Pasty" Farmer of Detroit, MI, and Vivian Johnson of Detroit, Mi; Nephews, Ralph Norman of Charlotte, NC and Hassan Rashid of Stuttgart, Germany; Nieces, Lillian Stanford of Hemet, CA, Lonnie Norman of Los Angeles, CA and Renee Watson of Columbus, OH; Cousins, Audrey El of San Diego, CA and Sheldon Jones of Waukegan, IL; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, great cousins, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M., on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Jesus Name Apostolic Church, 208 Lake Street, Waukegan, IL. Rev. John I. The Good Lord's got His hands full now. Behave yourself up there, Black Diamond... and take it easy on all the gray-haired gentlemen running around!!! :o Love ya!
Thanks for letting us know Typeswithfist. She was a wonderful and courageous woman. She lives on in many ways.
She will be sorely missed.

I am very saddened to learn of Lillie's passing. "BD" was a grande and gracious lady. I have no doubt she is in a happier place right now, free from suffering and pain, still keeping an eye on this community which she so dearly cherished.

Her warmth, spirirt and radiant charm will live on in all of us who had the high privilege of knowing her.
